PHRYGIA, Laodiceia ad Lycum, (c.A.D. 70-73), AE 25, (10.770 grams), obv. head of young Demos laureate to right, around **DHMOS LAODIKEWN*, rev. within a laurel wreath, OMO/NOIA/**EPI MAR/KELLOU/ ANQU* in five lines, (cf.S.5120, BMC 76 [p.290, Pl.XXXV, 2], RPC 1271, ). Extremely fine with attractive bronze patination and very rare.

T. Clodius Marcellus was the proconsul of Asia under Vespasian (70-73 A.D.) and who also issued coins in his name at Hierapolis, Cyme, Sardis and Synaus.
