ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (500-473 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (8.098 grams), obv. Taras seated to left on dolphin holding cuttlefish, **[TARAS]* reversed to right above, scallop shell below, rev. wheel of four spokes, (cf.S.223, Vl.84 [This Coin, p.13, Pl.III], cf.SNG ANS 830 similar dies]). Obverse off centred, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.
