CHARLES I, (1625-1649), silver Royalist memorial badge, (struck c.1649-1660), cast very slightly chased with rings for suspension, 19x14mm, probably by Thomas Rawlins but not signed, obv. bust of Charles I to left, hair long in falling lace collar, around CAROLVS D G MAG BRI FR ET HI REX, rev. crowned skull between C R, GLORIA VANITAS around, rev. legend around in Latin ['(I received) a blessed and exernal crown - (I relinquish) one splendid but burdensome'], (M.I 197 [p.345] and Pl.XXX, 8; Eimer -). Very fine and very rare.
