Bill of Exchange, for one hundred and fifty pounds, No. 226, Sydney, N.S.W., 28th February 1829, to Thomas MacVitie from the Australian Agricultural Company, signed by members of the Committee Management, James Bowman and Hannibal Hawkins Macarthur. Paper watermarked 'Ruse & T[urner] /18[28]', endorsed on back Tho MacVitie and Geo Bunn, attractive Vignette. Extremely fine and rare.

The Australian Agricultural Company was founded by Royal Charter in 1824. James Bowman (1784-1846). Principal Surgeon and Pastoralist. In 1823 he married Elizabeth Macarthur, the second daughter of John and Elizabeth Macarthur. An original member of the local committee of the Australian Agricultural Company, appointed in 1824. Hannibal Hawkins Macarthur (1788-1861). Pastoralist, politician and businessman. Son of James Macarthur the elder brother of John Macarthur. Also a member of the local committee of the Australian Agricultural Company. Thomas MacVitie (1781-1833). A foundation member of the Agricultural Society of N.S.W., and one of the few colonial share holders in the Australian Agricultural Company. Also a founding father of the Bank of N.S.W. George Bunn was a landholder known to have served on committees.
