DICKIN MEDAL (CAST), in steel (43mm) with suspender and ribbon, reverse machine tooled and engraved 'D D.43 T139 / Australian Corps of Signala / S.W.Pacific / June 1945 / A.F.M.C. 1181 / No.41 / Replica'. Very fine and rare.

The original Dickin Medal is in silver (33mm) and is awarded by the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals to recognise acts of bravery by birds and animals in wartime, generally known as the Animal's V.C. Only two of the original silver medals have been awarded. This medal would appear to be an unofficial issue by members of the A.I.F.

All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
