YORKSHIRE, Sheffield, Younge Wilson & Younge, gold ten shillings and sixpence or half-a-guinea, 1812, by Halliday, obv. phoenix, rev. legend (D.37). Nearly extremely fine and very rare.

Ex Colin Pitchfork Collection sold Noble Numismatics Sale 67 (lot 689) previously from the W.J.Noble Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 58 (lot 1827) and earlier from W.G.Wright Collection with ticket and original envelope (purchased by him from Spink & Son, London, 10th March 1949 for fifty seven pounds ten shillings).

A Specimen in the Hamer Sale in 1930 made fourteen pounds. The issue was probably very small and soon met a quick fate when they were prohibited shortly after issue. Fewer than ten examples survive today.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
