(EDWARD VIII), Royal Mint London pattern shilling, 1937, obverse tooled out at the mint owing to the abdication, milled edge (5.42g). Hairline from sheep's horn to near rim, contact mark on sheep above S of shilling, good extremely fine and extremely rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 91 (lot 1452).

There are patterns in the National Coin Collection at the Mint in Canberra with the adopted obverse of George VI, these came from Treasury. There are no known two sided patterns in private hands.
