WORLD WAR I, German New Guinea, under Australian occupation, ten marks, Rabaul, 14th October 1914, no 1234, cross cancelled (P.2b), (listed in From Cowrie to Kina, p.73). Thinned with backing paper, otherwise nearly fine and extremely rare, one of ten known.

Ex W.J.D.Mira Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 90 (lot 2947).

This note was restored after removal of glue from the back when part of a display in the Commonwealth Bank. W.E Smiths watermark visible in the paper of this note. The Ruth Hill Collection note in extremely fine sold for $49,350 in Sept 2014 Heritage auction (lot 26427).
