QUEEN VICTORIA, Melbourne Mint proof or pattern half sovereign, 1898M. A brilliant and frosted proof, a minute contact mark in front of the forehead, otherwise FDC and excessively rare.

This date was not struck for circulation, Murdoch held two specimens, this is in all probability one of them.
