THORNTHWAITE, J.C., Sydney silver threepence, 1854 (A-;.H.250/5). Has been plugged, otherwise good fine and excessively rare.

This type not in Andrews was first published by Heyde from his specimen, which was fine with surface knocks. A pattern strike of these dies occurs on a copper halfpenny blank, which was sold in Spink Australia Auctions Sale 29 (lot 2940). This is probably the fourth known example of the silver threepence.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
