ANGLO-SAXON, Frisian Sceattas, 'Cross' type, silver sceat, c.A.D. 700-750, obv. `standard' with four lines and central annulet, rev. cross and pellets with runes in angles, (S.840). Extremely fine.

This issue forms part of a group that have been found in the Netherlands and Lower Rhine area. Some of these coins are known to have been minted in Friscia, but they also circulated in England.
