MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III (the Great), (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.96 grams), Alabanda mint, issued c.125-70 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, with lion skin, counterstamp of Tyche turreted head in right field, rev. Zeus seated to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to right ALEXANDROU, to left under arm pegasus to left, below throne gamma, (S.-; Price 2462). Large flan with porosity, host coin fine, countermark very fine.
