INDIA, mogul, Akbar (AH 963-1014), (A.D. 1556-1605), Mahmudi silver quarter and half rupee, in packets described, obv. Kalima, rev. Akbar's name and titles, Mulher mint, (KM. -, 72.1). Very fine, first rare. (2)

The Raja of Baglana struck these mahmudis at his Muhler mint in order for the traders of Surat. The coins were issued for a long period long after Akbar's death.
