SICILY, Syracuse, (c.460 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.41 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying left crowning charioteer, rev. **SUPAKOSION around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair twisted and bound by cord, four dolphins around, (cf.S.924, Boehringer 489 same dies, Pozzi sale No.576, SNG Fitz. 1210 [same dies]). Flan elongated horizontally and weak on edge of obverse, reverse with attractive full portrait of Artemis-Arethusa with mint bloom, otherwise extremely fine and very scarce.

Boehringer note 9 specimens from these dies, only a few in private collections.
