ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.320-290 B.C.), silver stater, (7.92 grams), obv. head of Demeter to left, with necklace, wreathed with barley leaves, hair visible under chin, rev. corn ear, META to right, hayfork above stalk on left, and **DA to left under stalk, (cf.S.416, Johnston [NN&M 164] Class C, 5.16, Coates specimen Glasgow, 2798 [same dies]). Weak on wreath, very fine/good very fine and very scarce.
