ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.320-290 B.C.), silver stater, (7.93 grams), obv. head of Demeter to right wreathed in ears of corn, **DAI below chin, rev. corn ear, META to left, leaf of stalk to right, and plough above, MAX blow leaf, (cf.S.416, cf.Johnston [NN&M 164] Class C, 1.62 very similar dies). Off centred on the obverse, distinctive edge flaws and cracks, otherwise very fine.
