ELAGABALUS, (A.D. 218-222), silver denarius, Antioch mint, issued A.D. 221, (3.77 grams), obv. laureate bust of Elagabalus draped and cuirassed to right, around IMP ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, rev. around P M TR P IIII COS III P P, Elagabalus standing half-left, sacrificing out of patera over lighted altar, holding club, in left field a star, (cf.S.2112, RIC 177, C.196a). Some original mint bloom, weakly struck on the reverse, otherwise good extremely fine and scarce in this condition.
