JUSTINIAN I, (527-565), solidus, issue of 552-565, Ravenna mint, (4.43 grams), obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding cross on globe, around DN IVSTINI ANVS PP AVI, rev. Angel standing facing holding long cross with chi-rho at top end, and cross on globe, around VICTORI A AVCCCE, in exergue CONOB, star in right field, (S.312 [£750], cf.DOC. [333], Hahn Type 37). Full flan, well centred about as struck, neartly uncirculated the mint very rare, this Officina unpublished.

The attribution of this issue to Ravenna mint is based on style, see Alfred R. Bellinger, Volume I, (page 180) Catalogue of the Byzantine Coins in the Dumbarton Oaks Collection.
