Volusian, (A.D. 251-253), silver antoninianus, issued 251-253, Rome mint, (2.888 grams), obv. radiate bust to right of Volusian draped and cuirassed, around IMP CAE C VIB VOLVSIANO AVG, rev. Juno seated facing in round distyle temple, around IVNO MARTIALI, (S.2824, RIC 172, RSC 43). Some light porosity on the reverse, otherwise dark tone, extremely fine/good very fine and the rarest type for Volusian.
Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 52 (lot 2326). Temple reverses are rarely seen on coins for the second half of the third century A.D. and consequently sought after for their archaeological implications.
