AKSUM, Zaya `Abiyo la Madhen Negus, AGD (A.D. c.690-700), silver unit, (0.9 grams), obv. facing crowned bust, legend around reading [King of Aksum], rev. arch, with columns, a square armed cross in outline, legend around [The king who exalts the Saviour], (Munro-Hay 126, M.421-422). Trace of gold inlay on crown on the obverse, and in cross on the reverse, very fine and very rare.
