MACEDON, Kingdom of, Philip III, (323-317 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.804 grams), "Pella" mint, issued c.323-317 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left a grasshopper, below throne A, **FILIPPOU* to right, **BASILE[WS]* in exergue, (cf.S.6748, Price P1, BMC P1, M.-, Demanhur Hoard 1637). Good fine, scarce.

Ex Glendining's London, July 4, 1974 (lot 18 part) and from the Collection from Glamis Castle, Angus, formed by an unknown collector prior to 1714.
