BALUCHISTAN, Kalat, Khudadad Khan, (A.H. 1274-1311, A.D. 1857-1893), in the name of Mahmud Khan Durrani, copper falus, both on rough cut octagonal type flans, undated, (KM. 21). Very fine and scarce. (2)

Ex Robert Senior England, by private treaty and Glendining's 1964. $$ Kalat is a state located in Baluchistan. This the Khanate of Kalat had once been a feudatory of Kabul but became independent after Panipat. In 1839 Kalat was taken by the British and in 1854 a formal treaty was executed. From that time Kalat issued these crude octagonal copper falus for local use. The mint was closed in 1893 when Khudadad Khan was deposed for misrule.
